- University Housing and Greek Village residents are charged a non-refundable $20.00 (non-prorated) box rental fee for mail service each term.
- Box fees will only be refunded or credited to your bill solely at the discretion of USC Postal Service Management in the event of cancellation of your University Housing or Greek Village residence hall contracts due to non-enrollment @ USC prior to the effective date of mail service for each term.
- Mail is sorted to assigned student mail box numbers.
- Delivery notification for parcel shipments is made by the placement of a delivery notice in the student mail box.
- A picture I.D. and delivery notice are required to claim shipments from the Student Mail Center Customer Counter.
- Students are encouraged to check and empty their mail boxes regularly.
Security
- To help prevent theft, all mail boxes must be locked after
each use. Turn the dial upon closing to ensure that the lock
is secure .

security camera.
- If you should observe anyone tampering with a student mail box
please notify the postal personnel at the Customer Counter.
- The Student Mail Center Staff will gladly assist you with any
concern that you may have regarding your mail box ,mail or
shipping needs.
Student Mail
Incorrect Mailing Addresses are the
leading cause of mail delays to the University. The USPS has
assigned USC a unique zip code to be used on all mail addressed to
students assigned to mail boxes. The use of this unique zip code
, 29225 , will help aid in a more timely receipt
of student mail. See following example:
Addressing Student Mail Correctly
Name ( no nick names)
University of South Carolina
USC Box # (student’s assigned 5 digit mail box #)
1400 Greene Street
Columbia, SC 29225
USPS recommendations
- Use uppercase characters throughout the address
- Place the city, state and zip code on the last line
- Do not use punctuation marks
- USC student mail should be addressed to the student using the
29225 zip code.
